It's easy to get caught up in day-to-day life. Running from meeting to meeting, actually getting work done, having dinner with your family, getting to the kids' baseball and soccer games.
When you finally do stop to breathe, it seems as if there's no time for yourself. But to be successful in life, sometimes you need to put yourself first.
"Everybody thinks of changing humanity, and nobody thinks of changing himself," said Leo Tolstoy, the Russian novelist, and philosopher. When you make positive changes for yourself, everything else changes around you.
The wisdom of philosophers like Tolstoy, plus getting some good habits and practices in place will help give you get the boost you need to be better at life.
Not sure where to start? Here are a few tools waiting for you at your fingertips to help you achieve your goals and become the best version of yourself.

1. Sleep Cycle.

Researchers at the University of Chicago studied sleep patterns over time and concluded that people today sleep between one and two hours less than we did 50 years ago. In the 1970s, most Americans slept about 7.1 hours per night; today that number has dropped to 6.1.
Sleep Cycle will help you up your sleep game. The app tracks your sleep patterns and gives you feedback in the form of data to help you push yourself to get better sleep. It shows you how deeply you sleep, in which weather conditions you sleep best.
It even helps you determine which conditions allow you to get the most out of your sleep, therefore out of your day, and ultimately out of your life.

2. Headspace.

For thousands of years, meditators have claimed many benefits for their practice. A regular mindfulness practice, through meditation, leads to peace of mind and wellbeing, greater focus and creativity and better relationships.
Headspace is a great way to start your meditation practice. The app allows you to start meditating on your own, safe environment with very specific direction. Its numerous types of meditations help you to help yourself depending upon which issues you may be grappling with in life.
There are meditations for Depression, Focus, Relationships, Performance, Health, Sports, Foundation. They even go so far as creating meditations specifically on "Fear of Flying". The options are endless.
Having a handy app makes it easy for you to meditate anytime anywhere, whether you're out for a stroll, on your commute to the office or taking a lunch break

3. Omvana.

Omvana is another great meditation app. If you're a beginner, Founder, Vishen Lakhiani, offers lots of free guided meditations to get you started. The app also offers music for meditation for those who are more advanced.
I initially downloaded it because I love meditating to Tibetan Singing Bowls. Omvana also serves up editors' picks and guided meditations from leaders in the industry.
The downside I found were the myriad in-app upsells. If you can ignore those, you'll do just fine with all the free features.
